From the Animal Care Staff
We had a busy year pursuing our ongoing conservation work saving animals from extinction with our California condor and mountain yellow-legged frog programs here in California, our pronghorn project in Baja California, Mexico, as well as many other programs around the globe. In 2019, we have some terrific new opportunities for you to meet our animals up close-and personal with
behind-the-scenes experiences plus keeper chats and ambassador animals throughout the Zoo. We really love sharing the animals and the world with you, our members and biggest fans. We look forward to seeing you here and outside our borders in 2019.

We would also like to extend a special thanks to all you guests who attended events at the L.A. Zoo, for spending your time with us and supporting our mission. Our hope for 2019 is to continue creating magical moments here at the Zoo to share with all. Keep your eyes open for exciting new happenings to come!Boo at the L.A. From Former Zoo Director, John Lewis
It has been my great honor to serve as the Zoo's Director for the past decade and a half. We have done some great things together, and I sincerely thank you for your participation and support. After 43 years of doing this wonderful work in zoos across the country, it is now time for me to move on and enjoy the fruits of retirement with my wife and family. With your continued support, and combined stewardship of Zoo and GLAZA staff, the future of the Zoo is bright. Please stay involved— and remember it is your Zoo.
