With Memorial Day behind us, we’ve turned the corner from spring to summer and I hope you’ll make the most of your GLAZA membership this sunny season, and explore the array of improvements we’re adding to our offerings. A new schedule of live educational presentations is available and offers engaging animal close-ups and activities. Enjoy a giraffe feeding, have a Hippo Encounter, or join our largest primates for breakfast during “Good Morning, Gorillas.” In addition to the always-popular World of Birds Show, other highlights for birders include kookaburras at their new and improved exhibit in the Australia section, and new Bird Gardens designed to attract and support local feathered friends. While you’re here, don’t forget to visit and pet the goats and sheep at the contact yard at Muriel’s Ranch in the Winnick Family Children’s Zoo.

Make the most of member events that offer early access to the Zoo and beat the heat and the traffic.

As a GLAZA member, you can come to the Zoo as often as you wish and enjoy the ever-changing wildlife that call the Zoo home. Make the most of member events that offer early access to the Zoo and beat the heat and the traffic: PJ Masks Member Preview on June 9 (Contributing Circle level and higher), Member Appreciation Morning on June 16, and of course Member Tours. Members also receive discounts on exciting summer evening events—the final Sustainable Wine+Dinner for this year, on June 28; our revamped Roaring Nights music series, which kicks off on June 29; and, on August 3, Brew at the L.A. Zoo, now in its eighth year.

I hope you will join us in celebrating the arrival of summer. Stay tuned for more enhancements.
